COTA – Childhood Obesity Treatment in Action - is a nonprofit organization focused on the treatment of overweight and obesity in children, adolescents and families.
We will EDUCATE
Families, Healthcare Providers, Insureers, Policy Makers & all stakeholders in the childhood obesity epidemic about the treatment and management of childhood overweight and obesity.
We will ADVOCATE for
Children, Adolescents, & Families struggling with childhood obesity and help them connect with treatment resources.
HISTORY
In 2008, a group of childhood obesity experts and families shared their alarm that nearly 25 million children in America are currently overweight or obese; and that most are not receiving comprehensive treatment to help them return to a healthy weight or ensure their healthy transition to adulthood.
This group became Childhood Obesity Treatment in Action, a growing coalition which aims to RE-WRITE the story of childhood obesity treatment through coordinated action targeting families, providers, insurers and community members – all stakeholders in childhood obesity – through networking, education and advocacy.
