Research Interests / Description  As a faculty member at a large land grant university, I both teach and conduct research. My research is about dietary risk reduction for chronic disease and obesity in primarily two target groups: 1) mother-child dyads from families with limited incomes; and 2) emerging adults. I teach community nutrition to majors in dietetics, nutritional sciences and pre-med and a graduate course on nutritional assessment to grad students in behavioral nutrition.

Mission To reduce the epidemic of childhood obesity through fun physical activity and nutrition education programs 

Description  YBH is primarily an after-school program that is housed in six middle schools and one elementary school so far. It is staffed with personal trainers and other instructors/volunteers to guide students and school staff through various fitness activities. Occasionally, a dietition comes in to educate them on proper nutrition and label reading.
